The battle between the Blue Jackets and Maple Leafs didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Toronto was handed a 6-0 defeat on Monday at Air Canada Centre.

Bettors who backed the Blue Jackets were rewarded as +168 underdogs at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go OVER the closing total of 5.5.

Ryan Johansen (2), R.J. Umberger, Jack Skille, Cam Atkinson, and Ryan Murray each scored for the Blue Jackets in the victory. Atkinson opened the scoring for Columbus, finding the back of the net at 10:18 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Matt Calvert and Artem Anisimov.

Sergei Bobrovsky turned in a 18-save effort for the Blue Jackets.

James Reimer stopped 15 of 21 shots for the Maple Leafs, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, Columbus went 2-for-4, while the Maple Leafs were 0-for-1 with the man advantage.

Toronto lost the shots on goal battle to Columbus by a margin of 22-18.

Columbus looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Predators. The Maple Leafs will aim to get back on the winning track at Pittsburgh.
