Byrnes, Diamondbacks outlast Cardinals
Eric Byrnes hit a walk-off three-run dinger in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Arizona Diamondbacks past the St. Louis Cardinals 9-6 on Tuesday night.
Arizona won as +140 home underdogs as the teams played over the 9-run total set by sportsbooks.
Conor Jackson smashed a pinch-hit three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning for the Diamondbacks, while Tony Pena Jr. picked up the win in relief of starter Max Scherzer for Arizona.
Yadier Molina drove in two runs for St. Louis, as Brad Thompson took the loss after allowing Byrnes' blast in the 10th inning.
