The Atlanta Braves got a stellar debut from pitcher Kenshin Kawakami in a 5-3 win over the Washington Nationals at Turner Field Saturday.
Atlanta won as a -153 home favorite while the final score played under the 9-run total.
Kawakami threw six innings and gave up three runs on four hits a struck out eight batters. Lead-off hitter Kelly Johnson had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.
Ryan Zimmerman picked up his first home run of the season for the Nats. He finished 2-for-3 on the day with a two RBI and a walk.
