Pirates split with Braves
Andy LaRoche drove in two runs in the ninth inning to lift the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 3-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves Thursday afternoon, and earned a split of the four-game series at Turner Field.
Pittsburgh won this game as a +155 underdog, and the four runs went UNDER the day’s posted over/under (8).
Delwyn Young had two hits for the Pirates, including a solo home run. Steven Jackson tossed the eighth inning for the win, and Matt Capps threw a scoreless ninth for his 15th save.
Jeff Francoeur went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Braves and drove in their only run. Rafael Soriano gave up the winning runs and was saddled with the loss.
