Braves topple Pirates

The Atlanta Braves had to wait through a ninth-inning rain delay before finishing off the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-3 in the opener of a three-game series at Turner Field.

The Braves won the game as -171 favorites, while the 10 runs made it OVER the posted over/under (8.5) set by sportsbooks.

Chipper Jones and David Ross drove in two runs apiece in leading the Braves. Derek Lowe earned the victory, allowing one run off four hits in his seven innings.

Zach Duke gave up seven runs on 12 hits over 5 1-3 innings in the Pirates loss.
