Cubs nip Mariners

The Chicago Cubs scored twice in the fifth-inning, and held on to defeat the Seattle Mariners 3-2 Wednesday night at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs won the game as -135 favorites, while the five runs fell UNDER the posted over/under (8.5).

Mike Fontenot singled in two runs, and finished with two hits for the Cubs. Sean Marshall pitched eight innings for the win, giving up just two runs on seven hits and Ryan Dempster notched his 14th save.

Richie Sexson homered and finished 2-for-4 at the plate for the Mariners. Miguel Batista allowed nine hits and three runs over seven innings in the loss.
