Cubs fend off Mets
Carlos Marmol fanned a ninth-inning rally to earn the save as the Chicago Cubs held on for a 7-6 win over the New York Mets Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs won the opener as a -110 pick'em, and the 13 runs made it OVER the posted over/under (10) set by sportsbooks.
Alfonso Soriano belted a three-run homer to lead the Cubs at the plate. James Russell earned the win in relief of starter Randy Wells.
R.A. Dickey surrendered eight hits and seven runs over six innings in the loss.
