Rockies pound Cards; earn split

The Colorado Rockies scored seven runs early and went on to crush the St. Louis Cardinals 9-3 Thursday and earned a split of the four-game series at Coors Field.

Colorado won the game as -115 favorites, and the 12 runs made it OVER the posted over/under (10.5).

Garrett Atkins went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs to lead the Rockies. Jorge De La Rosa tossed 5 2-3 innings for the win, allowing two runs off five hits.

Ryan Ludwick belted two home runs for the Cardinals. Kyle Lohse gave up seven runs off eight hits in just four innings of work.
