The Florida Marlins scored three runs in the eighth inning to come away with a 5-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs in the series-opener at LandShark Stadium Friday night.

Florida won the game as +120 underdogs, and the seven runs went UNDER the night’s posted over/under (8).

Wes Helms led the Marlins with two RBIs, and Jorge Cantu hit a solo home run. Brendan Donnelly earned his first win in relief for the Marlins, and Leo Nunez collected his ninth save.

Jake Fox hit a two-run homer in a losing effort for the Cubs. Carlos Marmol surrendered three runs in relief to suffer his second defeat.
