Mets avoid sweep by Marlins
The New York Mets pounded out 17 hits as they cruised to a 10-3 victory over the Florida Marlins Thursday afternoon, and avoided a three-game sweep at Land Shark Stadium.
New York won the game as +200 underdogs, and the 13 runs sailed OVER the posted over/under (9).
Daniel Murphy led the Mets with two hits and three RBIs. Tim Redding pitched 6 2-3 innings for his second win, allowing five hits and three runs along the way.
Chris Coghlan belted two home runs in a losing effort for the Marlins. Anibal Sanchez surrendered eight hits and four runs in just under four innings of work.
