Phillies end skid against Marlins

The Philadelphia Phillies snapped a five-game losing skid by sneaking past the Florida Marlins 3-2 Friday in the opener of a three-game set at Sun Life Stadium.

The Phillies won the game as a -110 pick’em, while the teams played UNDER the posted over/under (9.5) set by sportsbooks.

Chase Utley drove in the winning run to lift the Phillies. Kyle Kendrick went six innings on the mound for the win, and Jose Contreras closed out the ninth for his third save.

Chris Volstad surrendered three earned runs off seven hits over 6 1-3 innings in the Marlins loss.
