Brewers outlast Padres

The Milwaukee Brewers got out to a nine-run lead and held on for a 12-9 victory over the San Diego Padres Thursday, avoiding a three-game sweep at Miller Park.

Milwaukee won the game as -200 favorites, and the 21 runs sailed OVER the posted over/under (10).

Mike Rivera belted two home runs and drove in five runs to lead the Brewers. Manny Parra tossed 5 2-3 innings for the win, and Trevor Hoffman closed out the game with his 26th save.

Kevin Kouzmanoff went 5-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs for the Padres. Cesar Carrillo gave up eight runs in just over two innings in the loss.
