The New York Mets pounded out 15 hits en route to a 8-1 win over the Minnesota Twins in the opener of a three-game series at Shea Stadium Monday night.

New York won the game as –165 favorites, and the nine runs made it OVER the posted over/under (8.5).

David Wright was 3-for-5 with one RBI, while Carlos Delgado and Ricky Ledee went deep for the Mets. John Maine pitched 7 1-3 innings for his seventh win, giving up one run off four hits.

Michael Cuddyer drove in the only run for the Twins, while Carlos Silva surrendered 10 hits and four runs in the loss.
