Perez, Mets stymie Rangers

Oliver Perez combined on a three-hit performance Friday, as the New York Mets defeated the Texas Rangers 7-1 in the opener of a three-game Interleague series at Shea Stadium.

The Mets won the game as -135 favorites, while the eight runs fell UNDER the posted over/under (9.5).

Perez also hit a two-run single for the Mets, and Jose Reyes had two hits with two runs scored. Perez improved to 5-4 with the victory.

Josh Hamilton went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in the lone run for the Rangers. Scott Feldman gave up seven runs off eight hits over five innings to suffer the loss.
