Phillies win long-awaited World Series
It took 48 hours to finish Game 5, but the Philadelphia Phillies prevailed 4-3 over the Tampa Bay Rays to end a 28-year drought and claim the World Series on Wednesday night.
Philadelphia won the game as -156 favorites at home, while the seven runs made it OVER the posted over/under (6.5).
Shane Victorino drove in two runs for the Phillies, and Jayson Werth added two hits and one RBI. J.C. Romero got the win in relief, and Brad Lidge closed out the game with his second save in the series.
Carlos Pena went 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI for the Rays. J.P. Howell gave up the winning run in taking the loss.
