The San Diego Padres took the opener of a four-game series Friday night with an 8-7 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

San Diego won the game as +150 underdogs, while the 15 runs sailed OVER the posted over/under (8.5).

Scott Hairston belted a two-run homer for the Padres, and finished with four RBIs. Cla Meredith earned his second straight win, and Heath Bell collected his sixth save of the early season.

Chase Utley went 2-for-5 at the plate with three RBIs for the Phillies. Ryan Madson gave up three runs in relief to suffer the loss.
