Marlins earn split with Padres
The Florida Marlins won a defensive-minded 3-2 victory over the San Diego Padres for a split of the four-game series at Petco Park on Thursday.
Florida won the finale as +215 underdogs, while the five runs fell UNDER the posted over/under (7.5).
Matt Treanor was 2-for-4 and drove in two runs to lead the Marlins. Byung-Hyun Kim evened his record to (4-4) with the win, and Kevin Gregg closed out the ninth with his 17th save.
Marcus Giles and Michael Barrett drove in the Padres runs in a losing effort. Jake Peavy allowed three runs from five hits over seven innings to suffer his third defeat.
