The St. Louis Cardinals scored three times in the first inning en route to a 7-4 victory over the San Diego Padres Saturday night at Busch Stadium.

Matt Holliday cracked a two-run homer to power the Cardinals. Joel Pineiro improved to 11-9 with the win, allowing seven hits and three runs.

Adrian Gonzalez had three hits, including a solo home run for the Padres. Tim Stauffer suffered his fifth loss, allowing seven hits and four runs over five innings.
