Holliday paces Cards over A’s

Matt Holliday hit a two-run homer and drove in three runs as the St. Louis Cardinals toppled the Oakland A’s 6-4 in the opener of a three-game series at Busch Stadium Friday night.

The Cardinals won the game as -250 favorites, and the 10 runs made it OVER the posted over/under (8) set by sportsbooks.

Chris Carpenter improved to an impressive 8-1 with the victory, and Ryan Franklin turned in his 13th save with a scoreless ninth.

Brad Ziegler gave up three hits and two runs over 1 1-3 innings of relief in the A’s defeat.
