Cards stop Reds in rubber match

Chris Carpenter allowed just one run on four hits in helping the St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Cincinnati Reds 4-1 in the series finale Wednesday night.

The Cardinals won the game as -210 favorites, while the five runs went UNDER the posted over/under (8) set by sportsbooks.

Matt Holliday cracked a solo home run for the Cardinals, and Kyle McClellan closed out the ninth for his first save.

Sam LeCure surrendered three runs on six hits over 5 1-3 innings in a losing effort.
