Twins win marathon over Angels
Denard Span hit a game-winning single to give the Minnesota Twins a 2-1 win over the LA Angels in 12 innings in the opener of a four-game series Thursday at Angel Stadium.
Minnesota won the game as +155 underdogs, while the three runs fell UNDER the posted over/under (8).
Carlos Gomez went 2-for-5 at the plate and drove in the other run for the Twins. Jesse Crain tossed an inning of relief for the win, and Joe Nathan threw the 12th to earn his 35th save.
Mark Teixeira homered in a losing effort for the Angels. Justin Speier gave up the winning run and was tagged with the loss.
