Jason Bay belted a two-run homer and drove in four runs to lead the Red Sox. Tim Wakefield threw six innings for the win, allowing two runs off four hits.
Ryan Garko drove in one run in a losing effort for the Indians. Jeremy Sowers was tagged for seven runs in just five innings on the mound.
