Red Sox edge Jays in opener
The Boston Red Sox scored early and held on for a 2-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game series at Fenway Park.
Boston won the game as -150 favorites, but the three runs went UNDER the night’s posted over/under (10).
Jeff Bailey and George Kottaras drove in the runs for the Red Sox. Tim Wakefield improved to 5-2 with the victory, and Jonathan Papelbon notched his 11th save of the season.
Kevin Millar belted a solo home run for the Blue Jays. Brian Tallet gave up four hits and two runs over six innings in the loss.
