Thome’s homer lifts White Sox past Cards
Anthony Reyes was almost perfect, his one mistake, a home run to Jim Thome was costly, as the Chicago White Sox edged the St. Louis Cardinals 1-0 Thursday to sweep the three-game set.
Chicago came into the game listed at -150 odds at home and the one run fell well UNDER the posted over/under (10).
Thome finished 1-3 with the only hit for his team producing the only run of the ball game.
David Eckstein went 1-4 at the plate in the loss as St. Louis only managed four hits themselves the entire game.
Freddy Garcia got the win, allowing four hits in eight innings of work as he earned his ninth win of the season and Bobby Jenks notched his 21st save of the year. Anthony Reyes allowed just a single hit, a home run and was tagged with the loss in an otherwise brilliant outing.
