White Sox fend off A’s

Bobby Jenks pitched his way out of a ninth inning jam and the Chicago White Sox held off the Oakland A’s 8-5 Monday night at U.S. Cellular Field.

Chicago won game as -120 home favorites, and the 13 runs sailed OVER the posted over/under (8.5).

Darin Erstad drove in three runs and finished 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the White Sox. Jose Contreras pitched 6 1-3 innings for his fourth win, allowing just three runs off nine hits.

Nick Swisher had five RBI in a losing effort for Oakland, while going 3-for-5 at the plate. Joe Blanton suffered the loss, giving up six runs off eight hits over 5 1-3 innings of work.
