Cubs sneak past White Sox
Geovany Soto belted a three-run homer to lift the Chicago Cubs to a 5-4 victory over the crosstown rival Chicago White Sox Friday night at U.S. Cellular Field.
The Cubs won the series opener as a -115 favorite, while the nine runs went as a PUSH against the posted over/under (9).
Jake Fox went 3-for-4 at the plate with a two-run dinger for the Cubs. Randy Wells tossed seven innings for the win, and Kevn Gregg closed out the ninth with his 12th save of the season.
Jim Thome hit a solo home run and drove in three runs for the White Sox. Jose Contreras gave up seven hits and five runs over 7 1-3 innings.
