Ordonez carries Tigers to World Series

Magglio Ordonez hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth on Saturday to give the Detroit Tigers a 6-3 win over the Oakland Athletics and advance them to the World Series.

The Tigers pulled out the series-clinching victory as -170 home favorites in this contest, while the combined score went OVER the day's posted total (7.5).

Ordonez also hit a solo home run for Detroit in the sixth inning. Curtis Granderson and Craig Monroe picked up RBI for the Tigers as well.

Jay Payton hit a solo home run for Oakland in the fourth inning.

Tigers starter Jeremy Bonderman lasted 6 2-3 innings, giving up three runs on six hits and fanning three.

Dan Haren allowed three runs on seven hits over five innings for Oakland.
