Royals fend off Mariners

Billy Butler had two hits and drove in one run to help the Kansas City Royals defeat the Seattle Mariners 3-1 Thursday afternoon and earn a sweep of the two-game set at Kauffman Stadium.

Kansas City won the game as -125 favorites, while the team's played UNDER the posted over/under (9).

Mike Aviles also drove in one run, and Coco Crisp scored on a fielding error. Brian Bannister tossed six shutout innings for the win, and Joakim Soria notched the save.

Ichiro Suzuki went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Mariners. Jarrod Washburn allowed six hits and two runs over seven innings of work.
