Payton’s hot bat lifts A’s past Toronto
Jay Payton is having a great week and Saturday was no different as he drove in three runs to lead his Oakland A’s to a 7-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.
Oakland won the game as -167 favorites at home with the 11 runs scored going OVER the posted over/under (9.5).
Payton finished 3-5 at the plate in the win and Milton Bradley singled and doubled in runs to finish 3-4 with two runs scored as Oakland takes a 2-1 lead in the four-game series, set to wrap-up tomorrow.
Troy Glaus belted a grand slam to get the Jays out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning as they could not muster any offense after that. Vernon Wells extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a double in the fourth inning.
Barry Zito got the win, allowing four runs off eight hits over 6 2/3 innings of work and Huston Street put up his 22nd save in the victory. Dustin McGowan surrendered five runs on five hits in just over four innings on the hill to suffer the loss.
