Mariners edge Reds in rubber match
The Seattle Mariners erased a two-run deficit to defeat the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 Sunday at Safeco Field.
Seattle won the game as -135 favorites, while the five runs fell well UNDER the posted over/under (9.5).
Ben Broussard was 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in two runs for the Mariners. Eric O’Flaherty improved to (4-0) with the win in relief, while J.J. Putz sealed the victory with his 21st save.
Ken Griffey Jr. belted two home runs and finished 3-for-4 at the plate for the Reds. Bronson Arroyo allowed 10 hits and three runs over seven innings to suffer the loss.
