Rays scorch Royals

Carlos Pena belted a three-run homer as the Tampa Bay Rays pounded the Kansas City Royals 8-2 Friday night in the opener of a four-game series at Tropicana Field.

Tampa Bay won the game as -250 favorites, while the 10 runs went as a PUSH against the posted over/under (10).

Dioner Navarro also homered in the win for Tampa Bay. David Price improved to 4-4 with the win, allowing just five hits and one run over seven innings.

Alex Gordon and Brayan Pena drove in the Kansas City runs. Sidney Ponson gave up eight hits and seven runs over 4 1-3 innings in the loss.
