Marlins early lead dulls Rays

The Florida Marlins jumped out to a 10 run lead and went on to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays 14-9 in the opener of a three-game interleague series at Tropicana Field Friday night.

The Marlins won the game as +170 underdogs, and the 23 runs sailed OVER the posted over/under (8.5) set by sportsbooks.

Gaby Sanchez smacked two home runs and drove in six runs to lead the Marlins. Anibal Sanchez scattered seven hits and four runs over seven innings for the win.

James Shields was pounded for 10 earned runs off nine hits in his 3 1-3 innings for the Rays.
