Tim Hudson pitched eight shutout innings, allowing only six hits while striking out five Sunday, as the Atlanta Braves defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1.

Edgar Renteria delivered an RBI double for the Braves in the sixth inning and later scored on an Andruw Jones groundout.

Eric Byrnes doubled in the Diamondbacks lone run in the ninth.

Juan Cruz took the loss after allowing two runs on two hits with seven strikeouts over six innings.
