Burnett pitches Marlins past Giants

A.J. Burnett won his sixth straight decision Sunday afternoon after pitching seven strong innings to lead the Florida Marlins past the San Francisco Giants 4-1.

The Marlins were a –240 favorite in the game. The five runs scored were UNDER the posted over/under total (7.5).

Burnett allowed only one run on six hits with five strikeouts in the win. Brad Hennessey took the loss after allowing four runs on six hits over four 2-3 innings.

Juan Piere was 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored for Florida.

Todd Jones recorded his 25th save of the season.
