Athletics take down Rays
The Oakland Athletics locked down the Tampa Bay Rays for a 5-2 victory at McAfee Coliseum Saturday.
Oakland won as a +102 home underdog while the final score played under the 8.5-run total.
A's starter Dallas Braden held the Rays to just one run through almost six innings of work. Slugger Jason Giambi launched his first home run of the year while right fielder Travis Buck also hit his first dinger of 2009.
Rays pitcher Matt Garza was hit around for four runs on four hits in just under six innings. Akinori Iwamura registered two hits and an RBI. Pat Burrell was 3-for-1 with a walk and an RBI.
