A’s upend Blue Jays
The lowly Oakland A’s defeated the high-flying Toronto Blue Jays 5-3 in the opener of a three-game series at Oakland Coliseum Friday night.
Oakland won the game as +100 underdogs, and the eight runs went UNDER the night’s posted over/under (9).
Ryan Sweeney cracked a two-run homer to lift the A’s, and Michael Wuertz tossed 1 2-3 innings of relief to earnt the win.
Rod Barajas went deep for a two-run dinger in a losing effort for the Blue Jays. Scott Richmond gave up seven hits and five runs over eight innings of work in the loss.
