Indians strike early; down Twins
The Cleveland Indians scored all their runs in the first two innings Friday and held on to defeat the Minnesota Twins 5-4 in the opener of a three-game series at Progressive Field.
Cleveland won the game as -200 favorites, and the nine runs made it OVER the posted over/under (8.5).
Kelly Shoppach led the way with two RBIs, and Franklin Gutierrez went deep for the Indians. Cliff Lee improved to 13-2 with the win, and fanned 10 batters against the Twins.
Denard Span and Joe Mauer drove in the runs for Minnesota. Livan Hernanadez allowed five runs off 12 hits over eight innings in the loss.
