The Boston Red Sox scored six runs in the top of the ninth inning as they doubled the Texas Rangers 8-4 Friday night in the opener of a three-game series at Rangers Ballpark.

Boston won the game as -140 favorites, while the 12 runs made it OVER the posted over/under (8.5).

J.D. Drew led the ninth-inning rally with a two-run dinger for the Red Sox. Takaski Saito tossed an inning of relief to earn the win.

Michael Young belted a two-run homer and drove in three runs for the Rangers. Frank Francisco gave up six runs in under one inning of relief in suffering the loss.
