Mets knockout Nationals
The New York Mets got up early and didn't look back, downing the Washington Nationals 8-2 at Citi Field Saturday afternoon.
New York won as a -171 home favorite while the final score pushed with the 10-run total.
Mets pitcher Mike Pelfrey went more than five innings, allowing just two runs on six hits. Center fielder Carlos Beltran had a nice day, going 3-for-5 with an RBI. Third baseman David Wright finished 2-for-3 with a walk.
Nationals starter Daniel Cabrera was roughed up early but allowed just one earned run out of the six runs scored against him in just over two innings of work. Washington made three errors on the day. Center fielder Elijah Dukes went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
