Tigers fend off Mets
The Detroit Tigers got out to a five-run lead and managed to hang on for a 6-5 win over the New York Mets Thursday night to avoid a three-game sweep at Citi Field.
Detroit won the game as +110 underdogs, while the 11 runs made it OVER the posted over/under (8) set by sportsbooks.
Magglio Ordonez hit a two-run dinger for the Tigers, while Ryan Raburn finished 3-for-3 with one RBI. Armando Galarraga improved to 3-1 with the victory, and Jose Valverde closed out the ninth for his 17th save.
Hisanori Takahashi allowed eight hits and six runs over four innings in the Mets defeat.
