New Orleans got 14 points from Jason Smith in a losing cause and another 14 points from Marco Belinelli. Greivis Vasquez contributed 6 assists for the Hornets, while Al-Farouq Aminu had 8 rebounds.
The Suns hit the break leading 50-41 before taking care of business in the second half.
The rebound battle favored Phoenix as they grabbed 43 boards, while New Orleans only had 37.
Next game, Phoenix takes its act on the road to face Sacramento looking for another win. For New Orleans, they head home to face Denver.
