The battle between East Carolina and Methodist didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Methodist was handed an 87-51 defeat on Tuesday at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.

Maurice Kemp had 21 points for East Carolina and Robert Sampson chipped in with 14 points. Shamarr Bowden had 9 assists for them, while Robert Sampson was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 10 boards.

Methodist got 15 points from Bryan Hockaday in a losing cause and another 9 points from Joey Horne. Tabias Hilliard contributed 4 assists for them, while Bryan Hockaday had 10 rebounds.

East Carolina hit the break leading 36-24 before taking care of business in the second half.

The rebound battle favored East Carolina as they grabbed 47 boards, while Methodist only had 36.
