Diamond Head Classic - Recap - Iowa State Defeats Akron 83-60
The battle between Iowa State and Akron didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Akron was handed an 83-60 defeat on Monday at Stan Sheriff Center.
Iowa State won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 6.5-point spread as favorites.
Iowa State got 22 points from Georges Niang and another 21 points from Melvin Ejim. DeAndre Kane contributed 5 assists, while Melvin Ejim cleaned the glass with 12 rebounds.
Akron got 13 points from Reggie McAdams in a losing cause and another 12 points from Quincy Diggs. Nyles Evans contributed 3 assists for them, while Demetrius Treadwell had 7 rebounds.
Iowa State hit the break leading 37-31 before taking care of business in the second half.
The rebound battle favored Iowa State as they grabbed 40 boards, while Akron only had 30.
