Cardinal hold on to top Sun Devils
The Arizona State Sun Devils rallied in the fourth quarter Saturday, but it wasn’t enough as they fell by a 45-35 score to the Stanford Cardinal.
The Sun Devils had been favored by 11 points in this contest. The combined score went OVER the game’s posted total (60.5).
Trent Edwards was good on 19-of-27 pass attempts for 303 yards for Stanford, throwing three touchdown passes. Anthony Kimble picked up a rushing and a receiving touchdown, Mark Bradford had two TD catches, and Nick Frank ran for a score in the win. Mike Silva returned an interception for a Stanford touchdown.
Rudy Carpenter went 19-of-25 for 304 yards, three TDs, and an interception in relief of Sam Keller for the Sun Devils. Brent Miller, Terry Richardson, and Rudy Burgess had TD catches, while Keller and Burgess ran for scores.
