Irish drop Stanford in a thriller
Darius Walker found the endzone on a six-yard run with a minute left in the game to lift the No. 6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish to a 38-31 win over the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday night.
The Irish, who finished the season with a 9-2 record, came into this game as a 16-point favorite on the road but failed to cover the spread. The game’s final score went OVER the posted total (58).
Brady Quinn passed for 432 yards, three touchdowns and was picked off twice. Jeff Samardzija caught eight passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns, and Maurice Stovall had 134 yards receiving and a TD. Walker finished the game with 190 yards rushing.
Matt Traverso, Justin McCullum, and Mark Bradford all had TD catches for Stanford.
