Cougars vs Lobos Final: 40-7 - Recap
Joshua Quezada ran for 107 yards as BYU handled New Mexico by a score of 40-7 on Saturday at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
The Cougars were a 30-point favorite in the win, and managed to turn a profit for their supporters. The combined score dipped UNDER the total, which closed at 52.5.
Jake Heaps completed 18 of 32 pass attempts for 231 yards for the Cougars in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Stump Godfrey rushed for 53 yards for New Mexico, while Kasey Carrier added 44 yards. Stump Godfrey threw for 125 yards for the Lobos, while receivers Ty Kirk and Lucas Reed had 64 and 41 yards respectively.
New Mexico was outgained by BYU 494-259 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 29-20 by the Cougars.
The time of possession battle favored BYU as their offense was on the field for 35:20, longer than the 24:40 of their opponents.
Next game, BYU takes its act on the road to face Utah looking for another win. For New Mexico, they head home to face TCU.
