Bearcats vs Zips Final: 59-14 - Recap
The battle between the Bearcats and Zips didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Akron was handed a 59-14 defeat on Saturday at Nippert Stadium.
The Bearcats were a 34-point favorite in the win, and managed to turn a profit for their supporters. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 56.5.
Zach Collaros completed 10 of 16 pass attempts for 157 yards for the Bearcats in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Jawon Chisholm rushed for 133 yards for Akron, while Broderick Alexander added 7 yards. Clayton Moore threw for 213 yards for the Zips, while receivers Keith Sconiers and A.J. Price had 137 and 34 yards respectively.
Akron outgained Cincinnati 349-342 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 20-17 by the Bearcats.
Cincinnati lost the time of possession battle 30:15/29:45, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Next game, Cincinnati takes its act home to face North Carolina State looking for another win. For Akron, they head home to face VMI.
