Trojans topple Stanford

The No. 1 USC Trojans opened up a can Saturday night on the Stanford Cardinal, claiming an easy 51-21 victory.

The Cardinal rallied late to cash in as 34-point underdogs, pushing the final score OVER the posted total (65) in the process.

USC jumped out to a 44-7 lead at halftime, then put it in cruise control. Matt Leinart was a potent 22-for-28 with four TD passes, giving way to John David Booty in the fourth quarter.

Trent Edwards was 21-for-35 for the Cardinal, but also threw three interceptions. Montreal native Gerald Commissiong, seeing his first action of the year, rushed for a Stanford touchdown in the final minute to earn the matador cover.
