Slaton, Mountaineers cage Panthers

Steve Slaton caught two TD passes and rushed for two others as the No. 8 West Virginia Mountaineers defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers 45-27 Thursday night.

West Virginia covered the 10.5-point spread and the 72 combined points sailed OVER the posted total of 51.5.

Slaton totaled 161 yards rushing, while catching six passes for 130 yards. Quarterback Pat White completed 10-of-15 passing for 195 yards with two touchdowns.

Panthers quarterback Tyler Palko was good on 28-of-37 passing for 339 yards with two touchdowns.
