BC survives scare in overtime win
No.23 Boston College were taken to overtime by Brigham Young, but a Tony Gonzalez 25-yard touchdown catch was the difference as the Eagles beat the Cougars 30-23 at Alumni Stadium on Saturday.
BC just managed to cover the 6.5-point spread at home, and the 53 total points were just OVER the posted total of 52.
Matt Ryan went 29-for-48 for 353 yards, two touchdowns and two picks, and Gonzalez caught six balls for 69 yards and two scores. Brandon Robinson had seven receptions for 139 yards for the Eagles.
John Beck had a huge day for BYU, going 38-for-59 for 438 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, to go with a rushing touchdown. Matt Allen had six catches for 108 yards, and Curtis Brown had 144 combined yards on 26 touches.
